SOC2theWorld- Southeast Asia
We would like to invite any internship and/or CES students to join us for an international internship experience in Southeast Asia.
Why?
Students will get to serve those living within Cambodia for 2 separate trainings- a 3-day trauma-informed training in Phnom Penh and a 3-day trauma informed training in Siem Reap. We are partnering with Matthew Stock (a past MFT student who is now a current CES student) and a few NGOs he and his wife work with in Cambodia. You will gain around 50-60 direct hours (systemic included) and 10 hours of supervision under Drs. Nanna and C. Hall. You will get amazing experience counseling outside of America and/or your current community! This will be a 16-day trip, including travel days. On this trip you can expect to encounter many exciting experiences including but not limited to:

How much?
$4600 plus your flight cost from your home location to Los Angeles and any food on travel days.
We encourage you to fundraise this cost. We will provide a template letter for you to send!

Please note- applying does not mean immediate acceptance. There will potentially be group interviews to determine best fit. Also, the trip will be dependent upon being granted our visas from the embassy.
Pre-Requisites?
You must be a CCU student in the School of Counseling who has successfully completed practicum. CES internship students are also encouraged to apply!
There will be 4 required trainings once accepted to the team:
Team Training #1- 6/15/26 @ 11a (mst)
Team Training #2- During Residency 3
Team Training #3- 8/17/26 @ 11a
Team Training #4- 10/5/26 @ 11a (debrief)

- helping facilitate a counseling training by providing:
- group counseling
- psycho-educational materials
- basic counseling skills training
- supervision with faculty and/or CES PhD students
- international travel
- long flights
- multiple airports/layovers
- international customs
- a variety of travel in another country which will include:
- miles of walking day-to-day
- travel by car, bus, and/or train
- staying in foreign hotels/apartments which may or may not have:
- elevators
- air conditioning
- individual bathrooms
- foods to which you may not be accustom
- utilizing interpreters for travel, directions, and during counseling times
