Honduras 2026 - Day 1

Hello friends and family! It’s a joy to be able to share about this Honduras trip and how the Lord is living and active and working here. On behalf of the team, I wanted to say thank you again for your prayers and support; they mean so much and we can’t wait to see what this week will bring and how we’ll see the Lord working and moving!

Today (5/17) was our first full day in Honduras! We traveled all day yesterday and were so excited to finally be able to settle into our hotel and begin our trip. This morning we arrived at church at our Compassion site and immediately felt the love of the people there. They gave us a huge welcome and all the kids there ran and gave us hugs which was such a joyful experience, as well as a special welcome dance from kids in the program! As a returner to Honduras, it was amazing to see yet again how God is blessing the people there. They had an updated sanctuary, a screen up front so the people in the back rows could see the pastor, and air conditioning units! A lot of us saw and connected with our sponsored kids and got to sit with them during the service. The pastor gave a powerful message about the importance of sharing and showing Jesus to the next generation, and why our actions today matter eternally. It was a very sweet and amazing time.

After church, we had our “fun day” with our sponsored kids, which was one on one quality time with sponsored kids and their parents at Chuck E. Cheese! We had a blast getting to talk with and play games with our kids, and the joy on their faces was unforgettable. We also gave them the backpacks we had packed for them filled with necessities and fun gifts, which was also a joy to be a part of.

For dinner, we went to a nice, local restaurant that had very tasty chicken, ribs, rice, and plantains, then went back to the hotel for a time of debriefing about the day and worship to the One who made it possible.

It’s been a great first day, and we are all excited about the days ahead.

¡Gloria a Dios!
