Hello friends and family!
Today was another wonderful day full of sweet fellowship and service at the CCU Compassion site HO389!
We spent the morning at the site cleaning different areas including the desks and chairs for the students and the bathroom area. The kids were not at the site today so it was just the team and the site staff (as well as their kids) We also had the opportunity to cook an American meal for the staff. We made hamburgers with baked beans and chips. It was such a gift to share part of our culture with them and to eat in fellowship together. I had the opportunity to talk with two of the moms on staff and hear about their families and their work at HO389.
After lunch we had such a beautiful time of washing the feet of the staff. This was something we planned ahead of time to bless them and also honor what Jesus did for his disciples, as the staff are discipling these kids. There were many tears and sweet words of prayer as the team washed the feet of about 20 wonderful beautiful people. Thank you Jesus for their sweet gift of service and love towards you and the kids they work with.
To conclude our time we encircled the staff to pray over them. After we said amen the project director, Bernese, asked if they could pray for us. So we switched places and that moment of prayer was incredible! Many tears were shed as the voices of all the staff members filled the room and blessed us! The Holy Spirit was so very present and He is truly going to amazing things in this place!
Our debrief time was very powerful and emotional. The Lord was working in such beautiful ways! As a team of students we decided to surprise Paul and Jen, our staff trip leads with a gift of funds for their sponsor child, Aidan, to thank them. When Paul and Jen met Aidan a few days ago they learned that his family of nine lived in a one room home with only two beds. This really tugged on our hearts as a whole team, including Paul and Jen. Tonight we planned a special moment for them where we washed their’s and Meghan’s (our Compassion trip lead) feet as a thank you for their dedication to the team and the project. We also announced our surprise gift, of which we gave mode than the yearly gift limit. They were overwhelmed with gratitude and joy! Praise the Lord for such an incredible team! We wrapped up with some sweet worship and shared special moments from the day!
As we go into the last few days of the trip please consider these prayer requests:
- health for the whole team (now and heading home)
- the strength to treasure every moment and say goodbye.
- for the staff at the CCU site to sense God’s presence and love
- for change and growth to sweep across the entire community and the hearts of the people in the neighborhood!
