Uganda 2025: Activities Thus Far

Hi everyone!
The past few days, we have dived a little deeper into Ugandan culture. Here are some of the activities we have done:

SHABBAT!
Shabbat happens every Friday night. It is a gathering of believers who share fellowship, a teaching, and a meal. We met at the missionary's house (the Cash's house) outside under a tent canopy. One unique thing is that various people spontaneously shared something they were thankful to God for in their lives.

PRAYER WALK!
We went to one of Mr. Cash's properties called Yamarimi. The name translates to "Place of Darkness." There are several families who live there. Mr. Cash dreams of creating a retreat there for other missionaries to find rest. We prayed over the property and played a little bit with the kids there.

EMPAAKO CEREMONY AND HYKIOTO!
Empaakos are "pet names" specific to the Rutooro tribe, the tribe most prevalent in Fort Portal. The elders give new babies an empaako which represents blessings and dreams for the children. We each received an empaako from family friends of the Cash family. Now, we will forever be part of the Rutooro tribe.
That night, we also participated in Hykioto, our church service for the week. There was singing, dancing, a message, and communion around a campfire.

HOSPITAL VISIT!
On Monday, we visited a local hospital. We handed out snacks and prayed for patients and their families. The visit stirred up compassion in us, and it helped us gain perspective on the broader world.

WRAPPING UP
We are looking forward to FaithQuest! You can be praying for the campers and our team to grow deeper in our faith. You can also be praying for health in our team. Thanks!
