Our first full day in Sarteneja is complete!
Today we eased into serving, focusing on home visits where we brought groceries to families and individuals to bring encouragement and the love of God. We started off our day with time with the Lord on the pier and a delicious meal of fry jacks to fill our stomachs. After this we got the supplies needed to bless the community and had a great time team bonding and working together filling twenty bags of necessities and groceries. We then spent time getting to know our hosts including making empanadas with the sisters, having great conversation with Pastor, and doing ballet and tag with the littles! After lunch, we took an ice cream stop and time for journaling to recuperate before our home visits. We then all piled into a truck and had a fun ride of singing to meet some amazing people. The people we met who graciously welcomed us into their homes gave our team new perspectives and memories. There were difficult and uplifting stories and moments but also some amazing spaces for the Lord to work in the future of the Belizean families. Once we came back we had an awesome game of spicy uno where some team members dominated, and some not so much, but funny memories were made. After this followed a sweet time of worship on the pier and a devotion about giving all the glory to God. We ended our night with supper and walking around town to the store and of course more ice cream! Overall it was a successful first day where we already got to see the Lord bring encouragement and community and we can’t wait to continue this excitement into tomorrow!
